Peaches wins, "Electronic Musician of the Year" at the 10th Annual Independent Music Awards held last night in Toronto, CA.
Dubbed, 'The Indies', it is the traditional closing event for Canadian Music Week. Peaches beat out fellow Canadians; A-Trak, Junior Boys, Shout Out Out Out Out , and Tiga.
Winners were chosen from a combination of results from fan and industry votes.

Marsha and Thaddeus
IVORY TOWER is the story of two competitive chess playing brothers (played by Chilly Gonzales and Tiga) and the woman they both love (played by Peaches). Set in Toronto, and filmed during the late winter/early spring of 2010, the film was co-written by César nominee Céline Sciamma and Chilly Gonzales, directed by Adam Traynor and produced by Nicolas Kazamia.
Peaches plays Marsha, a one-time bold performance artist, who is engaged to be married to Thaddeus (played by electronic musician/producer Tiga). Marsha's life is disrupted when an old frame and Thaddeus' brother, Hershall (played by Chilly Gonzales) returns after several years abroad.

Peaches, the bad girl of electro punk, and Chilly Gonzales, piano
virtuoso and rap entertainer, will bring their unique, completely
stripped version of “Jesus Christ Superstar” the rock opera, to
the stage of HAU 1.
They'll narrate the story of the last week in the life of Jesus
Christ – from entering Jerusalem until the crucifixion, using songs
from the musical. Peaches will sing all roles including: Jesus, Maria
Magdalena, the disciples and the Pharisees, alongside Gonzales' piano
accompaniment. Don't miss this concert version of Jesus Christ
Superstar by two extra-ordinary performers!
Peaches: “To perform Jesus Christ Superstar as a one-woman-song is
a crazy enterprise. Very demanding and very difficult. When I was
sixteen I often sang the whole musical to myself all alone in my room.
It tells an entire story without spoken text, only with vocals, in the
style of a rock opera. I’m a performer, my concerts are extravagant
and play with exaggerations. This project allows me to do without all
this. I want to confront this task totally exposed, because it is a
possibility. It's a question of stamina.
When I told Gonzales about this crazy idea he replied: ‘I want to
accompany you on piano.’ Until then, we didn’t know that we shared
an obsession for this musical, and that secretly both of us already
knew it by heart.”

Peaches, das Bad Girl des Elektro-Punk, und Chilly Gonzales, der

eigene, ganz reduzierte Version der Rock-Oper „Jesus Christ
Superstar“ auf die Bühne des HAU 1.
Entlang der Songs aus dem Musical erzählen sie die Geschichte der
letzten Woche im Leben Jesu Christi nach - vom Einzug in Jerusalem bis
zur Kreuzigung. Peaches singt alle Rollen selbst: Jesus und Maria
Magdalena, die Jünger und die Pharisäer. Gonzales begleitet sie auf
dem Piano, mehr nicht.Eine konzertante Aufführung mit zwei
außergewöhnlichen Performern.
Peaches: „Jesus Christ Superstar als einen One-Woman-Song
aufzuführen ist ein irrwitziges Vorhaben. Sehr anspruchsvoll und
schwierig. Als ich 16 war, habe ich mir das ganze Musical oft selbst
vorgesungen, alleine in meinem Zimmer. Es erzählt eine ganze
Geschichte ohne gesprochenen Text, nur mit Gesang, im Stil einer
Rock-Oper.Ich bin eine Performerin, meine Konzerte sind extravagant
und spielen mit Übertreibungen.Dieses Projekt dagegen erlaubt mir auf
alles zu verzichten. Ganz ungeschützt will ich mich dieser Aufgabe
stellen, weil sie möglich ist: Es ist eine Frage der Ausdauer und
Stimme.
Ich habe Gonzales von dieser verrückten Idee erzählt und er
erwiderte: ‚Ich will dich am Flügel begleiten.’ Bis dahin wussten
wir gegenseitig nicht von unserer Besessenheit von diesem Musical und
dass wir es beide heimlich auch schon auswendig konnten.“

“This video was the first one made for this album. It was filmed in April 2008 before the album even came out. A bunch of us (artists) all got these great spaces in an old building in Berlin Mitte. I had a fantastic studio space. There was an intimate 100 year old cinema in the building that was turned into a great underground dance club called Scala, and a large street level gallery also called Scala. Fubbi had the coolest space that used to be some kind of weird lab. It needed a lot of work but inspired the idea for this video, so we cleaned it up and used it as it was. ‘Relax’ is a somewhat spontaneous video that plays on a modern frankenstein theme with some Vanessa Beecroft aesthetics…”
